A Star Trail Timelapse of the Perseid Meteor Shower
A photographer named David from Hood River, Oregon, went out this weekend and photographed the night sky during the Perseid meteor shower. He then turned 400 of the photos into this star trail timelapse that contains several of the shooting stars he saw.
David drove up a forestry road 10 miles east of Mt. Hood in Oregon and set up his Sony a6000 and Rokinon 12mm f/2 lens shooting 15-second exposures at f/2 and ISO 1000. The shutter was being triggered by Sony’s PlayMemories Time-lapse app.
“I didn’t get set up to start photographing until after 1 am and didn’t get this series of photos going until about 2 am,” David says. “Once I confirmed it was going, I went to sleep in the back of my Subaru Outback and woke up after sunrise to several hundred images and a dead camera battery.”
The photos were edited in Lightroom, stacked in StarStaX, and rendered in LRTimelapse.
