Here’s a glimpse into a day in the life of a New York Times staff photographer. The behind-the-scenes video above follows 64-year-old photographer Ozier Muhammad as he covers the People’s Climate March in New York City last month for the Times with a Canon DSLR and a pair of Leica M rangefinders.
We see Muhammad weave walk through the event, hunting for shots that capture the essence of what is unfolding. It’s not always easy.
“What I usually do when I arrive to a scene and the picture isn’t readily available to me,” he says. “I keep my fingers crossed and try to keep my eyes wide open and hopefully that image will come together.”
