Simple Tutorial Shows You How to Change an Object’s Color in Photoshop

One of the basic Photoshop skills that many beginners want to learn early on is how to change something’s color in one of their images (be that an object or someone’s eye color). Well, you’re in luck, because Aaron Nace and Phlearn are here with a simple tutorial that will show you how to do just that, and do it well.

The tutorial is fairly basic, but if you’re watching/reading this then that’s exactly what you’re looking for. In 11 minutes, Nace explains how to use Hue/Saturation to change, not only the base color, but the highlight and shadow color of the object in question as well.

Beyond that, he also stylizes the image a bit with some lens flare (very interesting implementation) and Color Balance adjustments that you might want to tuck away in your toolbox for future reference.

Here’s the before:

And the after:

You might not want to go as far as he did, depending on your stance on Photoshopping, but there are some very useful skills and techniques demonstrated here that could be implemented with a lighter touch if that better suits your preferences.

Whatever your stance, check out the video above to see how it’s done and then head over to the Phlearn YouTube channel to see more.
