This is Why GoPro Recalled the Karma

GoPro announced a total recall of its new Karma drone yesterday, saying that the drone may lose power mid-flight and fall out of the sky. That’s exactly what owner Nicholas Kulick captured a few days ago in the 1-minute video above: his drone lost power and nearly fell on someone’s head.

Note: the video contains a bit of strong language.

“I was maybe a minute into flying when I started recording,” Kulick writes. “It was hovering and just crashed. Battery was fully charged any everything.”

What’s startling about Kulick’s video is that his Karma plummeted onto a baseball field and the camera ended up directly at the feet of a guy who happened to be standing below. He’s seen looking around in astonishment, surprised that a camera drone had nearly fallen on top of him out of nowhere.

A quick search for “gopro karma crash” on YouTube shows that multiple similar crash videos have been shared in recent days:

If you’re one of the 2,500 people who bought a GoPro Karma so far, you’re being instructed by GoPro to return the drone for a full refund.
