Instagram Adds Pinch to Zoom to Give a Closer Look at Photos and Videos

Instagram has launched a new feature that photographers will appreciate: starting today, you can pinch to zoom into photos and videos across the app.

The pinch to zoom feature works on posts found in feeds, profiles, and on Explore. Releasing your fingers from your screen causes the photo or video to snap back to an unzoomed state. Here’s a quick video demo:

“Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt,” Instagram says. “Zoom is one of the most requested features from the community, and it’s finally here.”

The feature is available starting today on iOS (download the latest update), and it will be released for the Android app in the coming weeks.
