Curious about how many people are actually watching your short Instagram videos? Soon you’ll wonder no more. Instagram announced today that it’s rolling out view counts on videos.

“Views are the most widely expected form of feedback on video,” Instagram says. “That’s why you’ll begin to see view counts underneath videos where before you’d normally see likes.”

If you still want to see how many likes your video has, simply tap “views” and that information will be revealed. Here’s a short look at this feature in action:

TechCrunch reports that 3 seconds of watching a video will count as a view in the system, and that the feature is designed to make the platform more attractive to both video creators and advertisers. It’s all part of Facebook’s strategy towards turning Instagram into a powerful money-making machine.

View counts will be rolled out to users in an update in the next few weeks, and Instagram says that this small addition is simply “the first of many ways you’ll see video on Instagram get better this year.”
