About a Photograph: USA Today Photographer Remembers His Experience Shooting Robin Williams

In their most recent episode of the video series “About a Photograph,” the folks over at Think Tank Photo decided to pay tribute to the late, great Robin Williams in their own way, speaking with a photographer who was fortunate enough to capture the comic genius on film.

In the brief tribute, USA Today photographer Robert Hanashiro shares a few words about his experience photographing Williams and fellow actor Dustin Hoffman, remembering a brief but meaningful encounter with the man who immediately made Hanashiro — then only about a year into his tenure at USA Today — feel at ease.

“I got to admit that when I’d heard he’d passed away, I was, very, very sad,” laments Hanashiro. “Not only because he was such a great subject, but a great person to be around.”
