Image Toaster Burns a Random Picture Onto Your Toast Each Morning

Here’s a fun contraption that could make breakfast that much more photographic each morning. The Image Toaster by Scott van Haastrecht searches Google Images for that day’s date every morning, and then burns a randomly chosen result onto your toast at 6×6 pixels.

Of course, at that resolution, it certainly won’t replace a gander through the morning’s paper (do people still read newspapers?), but it’s a fun idea that could some day turn your toast into a daily work of art (or news). For now the prototype still needs to be connected to a computer to do its thing, but Haastrecht hopes to have it working off of nothing more than WiFi and a power cord in the near future.

I’m not really sure if that was a commercial for the toast or the kitchen design.

Seems like an interesting idea. But poor video production. If it’s 7 am, why the dude has a watch watch shows 16:49. Does it take 11 hours and 47 minutes to make a toast?

16:49 on the watch. This guy gets up pretty late (note to video producer : that’s why actor NEVER wear watches in videos / clocks are always stopped so they don’t show different time depending on the take used in the montage).

Can it put an image of toast onto my toast? Or would it get confused and explode!?!

  • MicroCreatives

Super cool, it’d be amusing to bite into the toast in the morning :)
