Nikon Website Briefly Shows the D800

Earlier today, the official website of Nikon Germany briefly showed a mysterious camera in an image of the company’s DSLR lineup. It was quickly removed, but not before screenshots of the page quickly spread across the blogosphere. The camera in the photo looks identical to the photo of the Nikon D800 that leaked in November of last year.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison showing the Nikon D700 on the left and the mysterious camera on the right:

Notice how the distinctive red triangle has been flatted in the new camera. The D800 may be unveiled in February — possibly at the CP+ show in Japan starting on February 9th.

I have been waiting on the D800 for almost a year.  It’s on my list, bring it on Nikon.

These images are not properly scaled. D800 should actually be smaller compared to D700.

  • Frustrated Fotografer….

it is alos interesting to me that the “d800″ is so out of focus.  Not too sure about this leak.

  • Turbo

Keep frustrated :)  The D800 is an upressed tiny web image, while D700 is a commercial one. Plus, Don’t worry, it will be for real soon.

  • Erik Lauri Kulo

Interesting. Am I alone in thinking they do this deliberately?

  • Gman

Gosh, if these consistent leaks from all these camera manufacturers are not deliberate marketing ploys, then these PR folks have got to be the most inept, clumsy, upload-challenged buffoons out there.
