Leica Unveils M10-R with 40MP Sensor and Better Low-Light Performance

Leica has just revealed another M10 variant. Following in the footsteps of the Leica M10-P with its quiet shutter, the M10-D that lacks the LCD screen, and the M10 Monochrom with a 40MP black-and-white image sensor, we now have the Leica M10-R: a high-resolution version of the Leica M10 that uses the same sensor as the Monochrom, but shoots color.

This is How the Leica M10 is Made

Want to see how Leica's cameras are made these days? Photographer Richard Seymour made this 4-minute video that provides a beautiful look at how the new Leica M10 is built in Wetzlar, Germany.

Mockup of the Leica M10 Based on the Leaked “Spy” Photos

Remember those leaked "spy" shots that supposedly show someone using the upcoming Leica M10 digital rangefinder? The most striking feature is the special port on the back that allows for an electronic viewfinder attachment on the hot shoe.

The new Leica M10 will almost certainly be announced at Photokina next month, and may have quite a few "firsts" for a camera in the M rangefinder lineup.

In addition to confirming the launch date, Leica reviewer Steve Huff writes that that the camera will likely hit store shelves in late February or early March 2013.

Leica Rumors has published two small images showing what may be Leica's followup to its M9 rangefinder: the Leica M10. The camera in the photos appears to have a larger screen than the M8/M9, and is being held in a manner that suggests that it has autofocusing and live view.
