The KOBRA is a new flash modifier that's hoping to be a "game-changer" in an already crowded market. The brainchild of photographer Paul McKelvey, the KOBRA has just been launched on Kickstarter. McKelvey was frustrated with the results of what's currently on the market, so he created the KOBRA to "paint with light, not spray."
The ultra-popular line of magnetic flash modifiers MagMod burst onto the scene around this time last year with a product so simple and well received they raised six times their Kickstarter goal.
Now, a year later and a year wiser, they're expanding the brand with the MagSphere and MagBounce: in their words, "the easiest, softest, simplest, most versatile & efficient flash diffusers ever."
Spinlight 360 is a relatively young startup company that makes modular flash modifier systems for speed lights. Its products are based around a ring assembly attached on the head of flash units that various modifiers can be mounted to, allowing it to be a "jack of all trades" of sorts when it comes to controlling light and shadows.
