After testing the RF mount 50mm f/1.8, Photographer Alex Barrera didn't think it had the "pop" that other Canon RF lenses had shown. To see if it was just in his head, he decided to pit it directly against that lens's predecessor: the EF 50mm f/1.8.
Canon Ambassador Irene Rudnyk has posted a review of the recently-announced Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 where she compares it to the old EF version from a build-quality perspective as well as shows the quality of the images she was able to produce with it.
This week Canon announced its new 50mm f/1.8 STM, a followup to the popular and cheap "Nifty Fifty" 50mm f/1.8 II. Aside from a better build quality and a metal mount, the new lens also features Stepping Motor (STM) technology for
smooth and silent autofocusing.
