[T]his 21mm 3.5 features a modern optical design with ED, HR and aspherical elements and therefore also shows a good performance with high contrast and resolution from the maximum aperture and an almost complete lack of chromatic aberrations.

Of the 21mm lenses currently available in Leica M mount, the Thypoch Ksana 21mm f3.5 is now my first choice. I tend to use 21mm when I travel so the small size is a key and I Iove how compact it is on both my Leica M cameras and APS-C Leica CL as a walkabout lens.

If the Thypoch 75mm f1.4 is the specialist and the 28mm is the workhorse, the Thypoch 21mm f3.5 is the minimalist’s choice. The build is premium, the optical compromises are real and predictable, and if you work within them it performs well.

I've always been happy with the Voigtlander Color-Skopar, but I think now I'm going to be carrying the Thypoch instead of the Color-Skopar.

Given its focus on portability and that "vintage character" with 1970s-inspired rendering, I assumed there would be a more noticeable trade-off. But I'm happy to say it doesn't disappoint.

With its high build quality, strong sharpness, and the touch of character from the flare and sunstars, it's a very well-balanced package overall. And at the price of $479 or $549, it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a compact wide-angle option.
