GoPro has not introduced any flaws or made any type of big design change, which can only mean that I would recommend buying it once again.

The Hero 11 Black might not have wildly improved the line's lowlight performance, but with its new 8:7 sensor, a simplified interface, and improved horizon leveling, it's upgraded GoPro's offering in a meaningful way.

With a much larger sensor, top-of-class image stabilization and a great editing app, the GoPro Hero11 Black should be your choice if you want the best action camera around. However, those who plan on mounting a camera to a helmet may prefer the smaller Hero11 Mini.

When you factor in strong competition from the likes of DJI and Insta360, both of which have new rivals in their lineup, the arrival of the HERO11 makes this possibly the best time to be in the market for an action camera ever.

For me, I will switch over to this camera mostly for the increased SuperView frame rates as well as some of the minor features, but I think for most people if you have a Hero 10, you're probably good as is.

While GoPro’s overall image quality remains solid as ever, the Hero 11’s new sensor presents video makers with even greater creative freedom both through cropping flexibility and the new super-wide HyperView mode.

With its excellent dynamic range, reliable image quality in well-lit scenes, and versatility, though, it’s still our choice for best action camera of 2022.

If you are looking for an all round action camera for traveling or sports, I can definitely recommend Hero 11. If you want to save some money or you don't need a taller sensor, Hero 10 is still a great option.

  • The Hero 11 is definitely the best GoPro camera I’ve ever used. I have been pleasantly surprised with how much of an awesome all-round content creation device this can be; it’s certainly not just for sports or action shots.

If you haven’t bought into GoPro yet, like me, then the Hero 11 makes a more compelling case. Its gimmicks likely won’t be worth hundreds of dollars to most, but its potential as an action cam is as strong as ever.

The larger 1/1.9” sensor delivers a tall 8:7 aspect ratio – a middle ground between the 16:9 (for YouTube and widescreen TV formats) and 9:16 (social media and smartphone formats).

I think if you've got anything lesser than a Hero 7, this might be a considerable upgrade, but anything later than that, I think you're not really missing out on anything groundbreaking per-se.

The GoPro HERO11 Black is a nice update to the already good GoPro HERO10 Black and uses the same GP2 processor that we got last year, and I like that because it really did help with performance.
