Giannis Antetokounmpo Enjoys Blowout By Becoming a Photographer

Milwaukee Bucks basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo took advantage of his team’s blowout lead over the Indiana Pacers by picking up his camera and snapping photos from the sidelines.

Antetokounmpo took a camera out of his bag to, according to an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, photograph his brother.

“I was taking pictures of my brother (Thanasis),” Antetokounmpo says. “I actually took a picture of (Pat) Connaughton and Donte (DiVincenzo). I thought it would be a good idea if I take some pictures of Thanasis, make him look good. I was just trying to have fun, be in the moment.”

Antetokounmpo was caught on camera and was the main topic of discussion for the game’s commentators who contrasted his seemingly focused work with an official sideline photographer who was, at the time, on his phone with his cameras down. The unfortunate timing served as a point of jest. At the time, there was likely very little for the official photographer to focus on, as the game was well out of hand – Indiana trailed Milwaukee 119 to 89. They would go on to lose by 20 points.

The basketball star appears to be using a press-photographer favorite: a Canon 1DX Mark III. Despite the fun with his camera on the sidelines, Antetokounmpo still recorded a triple-double, his third of the season, with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.
