This is the Crazy Resolution of the 102MP Fujifilm GFX100

The $10,000 Fujifilm GFX 100 102-megapixel medium format camera hit store shelves recently after its unveiling back in May 2019. If you’re curious about what shooting with 102 megapixels is like, Louis Ferreira of Fuji Addict has an eye-opening crop for you.

Ferreira recently took a handheld photo of the full moon in the night sky using the Fujinon GF 110mm f/2 R WR LM lens at f/2.

He then cropped the moon from the original photo, resulting in a roughly 400px wide image of the moon itself:

Just for kicks, we enhanced the crop using Topaz Gigapixel AI. Here’s what resulted:

This is a photo of the moon captured handheld at night using the 35mm equivalent of an 87mm portrait lens. Impressive.

“I wanted to demonstrate the stupid amount of resolution and detail that the GFX100 can capture,” Ferreira says. “The amount of detail retained is pretty crazy in my opinion and goes well beyond what a 50-60MP camera can capture.

“With the GFX100’s ability to crop you could take one photo and share hundreds of crops from it without anyone noticing, due to the amount of detail the camera captures.”
