Apple Made an Animated Short About Sharing Your Gifts with the World

If you love photography but are often afraid to share your work due to a fear of failure and rejection, here’s a dose of encouragement and inspiration made just for you. Apple created this 3-minute animated short titled “Share Your Gifts.”

The story is about a young woman who literally keeps her creativity boxed up because she’s never satisfied with the quality of her work. But one day she learns to share her gifts with others when she unexpectedly discovers that people do actually love what she creates.

“Have you ever made something wonderful but were too afraid to share it?” Apple says.

The background song is “Come Out and Play” by American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish. Here are some of the lyrics:

You see the piece of paper
Could be a little greater
Show me what you could make her
You’ll never know until you try it
Hmm-mm
And you don’t have to keep it quiet

And I know it makes you nervous
But I promise you, it’s worth it
To show ’em everything you kept inside
Don’t hide, don’t hide
Too shy to say, but I hope you stay
Don’t hide away
Come out and play

The short film itself is also inspiring in its own right: it was created by combining computer-generated characters with an absolutely massive real-life set and clever practical effects.
