Competition in the DSLR attachment space is heating up. Joining the likes of TriggerTrap and CASE Remote is a new product called CamsFormer, a single DSLR attachment that adds wireless camera control, time-lapse, high speed triggering, and motorized pan/tilt/zoom.

As with other attachments on the market, once the device is connected to your camera, you can control the functions using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

For triggering the shutter, the CamsFormer includes sensors for light, laser, lightning, sound, and motion. You can also plug in additional sensors for things like temperature, pressure, touch, or whatever else you can think of. The 4 independent triggering channels can set off up to 2 cameras and 2 flashes within microseconds.

The CamsFormer also allows you to control your camera remotely through your mobile device. See and set settings such as ISO, white balance, shutter speed, aperture, drive mode, exposure compensation, flash settings, and more. You can also adjust focus, capture photos and videos, and monitor what’s being captured. Your device can serve as the wireless live view for your camera.

Finally, the CamsFormer can wirelessly control a motorized pan/tilt/zoom head, allowing you to control where your camera is pointing directly from your smartphone. Scripted movements can help you add motion to your time-lapse films.

Installation involves plugging the CamsFormer into your camera’s USB port and installing the CamsFormer app onto your device.

The team behind the CamsFormer recently turned to Kickstarter to raise funds and take preorders. They’ve already reached nearly $40,000 after setting an initial goal of $7,000. A contribution of $189 or more will currently allow you to preorder a CamsFormer for when it starts shipping in June 2015.
