Breakthrough Photography’s X-Series Filters are Ultra-Thin, Easy to Remove, and Affordable

Breakthrough Photography today announced a new lineup of X-Series Traction UV and ND filters that are drawing a lot more attention than your standard lens filter typically gets.

The series consists of three separate models, each of which measures in at between 3.2 and 3.5mm in depth, comes in filter sizes between 49mm and 82mm, and includes a clever ring setup that makes placing and removing the filters less of a hassle.

The ultra-slim form factor, weatherproofed design and clever traction system aren’t the only impressive aspects of this new line-up though. The price is equally impressive. Breakthrough Photography is offering these high-end quality filters at low-end prices, starting at $25 and working their way up to $110.

The first of these new filters is the X1 UV Standard Flat Back. This is your average UV filter, albeit much thinner. The second in the line-up is the X2. These aluminum encased filters come in both a UV and ND variety, with the latter available in both three and six stop ND varieties.

The last in the line-up are the X3 filters, which are secured between a CNC-cut brass frame and utilize German Schott B270 glass. As with the X2 model, the X3 is available in both a UV and ND model, with the three and six stop options.

Breakthrough Photography is hoping to get the X-Series Traction Filters out into the wild with the help of crowdfunding. As of right now, the Kickstarter has reached only 5% of its $50,000 goal, but for only popping up recently, it seems to be on a roll.

If you’re interested in maybe getting your hands on one of these models, the X1 is available for $25, the X2 UV will set you back $40, the X2 ND costs $60, the X3 UV is $80, and the X3 ND is the most expensive at $110.
