Valentine’s Day Meets Pulp Fiction in This Creative Stop Motion Video

There’s no use ignoring it, it’s Valentine’s day, and that means some cool photography related Valentine’s stuff will invariably make it onto PetaPixel. No worries though, it’s not all going to be sappy and romantic. Some of what we’ll share, like this awesome 15-second stop-motion video, is downright hardcore.

The video was created by Houston-based neuroscientist Charles Beaman, who sent it to us last weekend in the hopes that we might share it today.

A researcher by day and artist by night, Beaman drew, hand-painted and then animated an anatomically correct heart by stabbing it with a syringe full of adrenaline Pulp-fiction style. It’s creative, it’s stop-motion, it’s heart-themed… what more could a photo nerd want on Valentine’s day?

Check out the video at the top to see this painted heart start beating for yourself, and if you’re interested in browsing through more of Beaman’s work, you can find more by him on Instagram, YouTube or his website.
