Montage of Students Posing Awkwardly for What Turns Out to be a Video Camera

If you need a laugh this Thursday, look no further: the Student Union of Nottingham Trent University in England has you covered with a viral video they released a couple of days ago. It’s a classic that never seems to get old: a montage of people smiling or posing awkwardly for what they think is a photo, when in fact it’s video the Student Union was shooting.

This certainly isn’t the first time we’re shared something like this before — even big shot musicians have gotten in on the prank — but this wasn’t even a prank at all. Apparently it’s just “students mistaking a video camera for a stills camera.”

Solution: put together a montage of some of the most awkward and contrived poses they get from this fortunate mishap.

Seen as stills these look like your typical “night out” photos that so often clutter our Instagram or Facebook feeds, but when put in the context of video it becomes painfully obvious how forced and unnatural they are. I don’t know about you, but we rarely find ourselves pointing at things with our tongues out… or making hang loose and peace signs.

Regardless, check out the cornucopia of awkward that is the video at the top. Hopefully it’ll put a smile on your face and make the rest of your work day go by that much faster.
