Triggertrap Selfie Lets you Snap a Shot by Screaming at Your Phone

Camera triggering company Triggertrap has launched a new iOS camera app called Triggertrap Selfie. Its functionality is simple: sound-triggered selfies. Simply point your phone, make a loud sound (e.g. scream at your camera), and the app will take care of snapping a shot for you.

The app’s live view will initially show your face as a jumble of pixel blocks:

To clear up the screen and snap a photo, just make some noise. “As soon as the shout hits the required number of decibels, the pixelated screen will clear and the camera snaps a selfie,” Triggertrap says.

There’s also smart face detection built into the software that makes sure it only snaps a photo when there’s a face in the frame.

Your scream-triggered self portrait is saved to your camera roll and can be shared to Twitter from inside the app.

You can download Triggertrap Selfie for free from the Apple App Store. Be warned though: you may draw some strange looks if you use this app in a public place.
