Canon’s Upcoming 11-24mm f/4L Will Reportedly Cost a Hefty $3,000

In August, the rumor mill started buzzing about Canon having a new 11-24mm lens up its sleeve. The next month, a leaked photo gave us our first glimpse of that lens, an 11-24mm f/4L.

There is now more confirmation that this lens is in fact legit. That’s the good news. The bad news? It will likely cost quite a pretty penny.

Canon Rumors reports that a couple more sources have confirmed the existence of this lens. The sources seem to agree on the price as well: a whopping $3,000.

While no one was expecting an 11-24mm L lens for full frame cameras to come cheap, the price point seems to be quite high given the fact that the lens is f/4. The next priciest ultra-wide zoom after this lens would be the existing 16-35mm f/2.8L II, which costs $1,700.

The new lens will fill up a gap that currently exists in Canon's ultra wide zoom lineup
