Photographer Joins Forces with Cosplayer to Create Awesome Horror Movie Photos

cosplayhorror10

What do you do if you have an abiding love of horror movies, a phenomenal cosplayer who you work with on a regular basis, and a knack for photography and graphic artistry? It’s obvious isn’t it… you re-create famous horror flicks by shooting an awesome photo series.

At least that’s what photographer and graphic artist David Love chose to do when Leah Burroughs, better known as Callie Cosplay, approached him about doing a photoshoot inspired by the movie Carrie.

“By the time she arrived at my house/studio,” Love tells Popcorn Horror, “I wanted to do every awesome scary movie ever, in time for Halloween.”

Well, they didn’t have time to do “every awesome scary movie ever,” but after a quick sprint to the local costume shop they did manage to re-create X-Files, The Ring, Friday the 13th, Scream, Carrie (of course) and several others. Check out the full series below:

The beauty of being a Photoshop master worthy of the title Graphic Artist is that Love is able to shoot all of these images in his home studio. The concern is to get the character right, a feat accomplished with help from make-up artist Elia Lizcano — background elements are added later in post.

To see more of Love’s work, including a ton more cosplay photographs of everything from superheroes to The Walking Dead, head over to his website by clicking here or show him some love on Facebook here.

  • To Cosplay Or Not To Cosplay~~

why all the victim are woman?

i love the ring image of her coming out of the television, but the smoothed skin sexypain faces of the others do more to raise my feminist ire than to scare me. you’re gonna do horror, do horror!

    1. The cosplayer is a woman.
    2. She is recreating popular horror movies where the victim was a woman (Scream, Psycho, Friday the 13th).
    3. She is the victim in half of the pictures shown. The other half shows her as the aggressor or the heroine.

I had the same thought when I saw the pictures. I like the first one, but the others aren’t believable that much. The skin is way too much fashion like and on the black and white one her right arm doesn’t really work. If their would be someething scary she would defend herself with both hands instead of covering her boobs with one arm. Same about the last picture and why is she scared if she isn’t even looking at him. Number 7 could tell much more of a story if she would have something bloody in her hand.

But it’s still a nice work. It’s always nice to see people creating something instead of taking. Good job.
