ShutterBuddy is like a Tractor Beam for Baby Eyes

Apparently babies can’t resist a good checkboard pattern. ShutterBuddy is a camera attachment that surrounds your camera or lens with a checkerboard pattern, causing babies to stare uncontrollably at your camera (whether in fear or fascination, we have no idea). You can order your own for $15 through the ShutterBuddy website, or you can spend some time creating a do-it-yourself version by printing out or drawing your own checkboard pattern.

Here’s a video demonstration showing how it works:

Now if only they could figure out how to make dogs stare at cameras. I can never seem to get my friend’s dog to pose for a photo.

    “do you like that?”

i can tell you what he *doesn’t* like, having that flash explode in his face several times in a row…

I have to admit… when I first saw the picture I didn’t notice the babies… all I saw was checkerboard…

The child was focused on her from the onset… Not a very good demo… =)

…now the babies don’t have to look at the photographer’s ugly mutt for the whole shoot!
    it’s a win-win situation! :D

To make a dog stare at a camera, tape a biscuit to the top of the lens. Only works for a little while, and do give the dog the treat afterwards!

This thing is nice! I’m not sure if they fit on SLR cameras tho…

For dogs I use a surprising whistle or I put a plastic whistle that are found in the squeaky dog toys. Works pretty well…

if you want a dog to stare at the camera hang a treat from the lens, don’t do this if its an ill behaved dog though
