The iPhone 8 Plus' reign as the sole top tested camera at DxOMark didn't last long. The camera testing lab just published its review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which now joins the iPhone 8 Plus with the same highest-ever overall score of 94. The Note 8 also has the highest-ever still photo score of 100, beating the 8 Plus' 96.
Inspired by Tom Kucy's recent short film "Ground Control," Devon, UK-based photographer Chris Coupland took photos from the Project Apollo archive on Flickr and turned them into this beautiful 3-minute short film, titled "Apollo."
My day job has me using the new Panasonic GH4 for video. While Panasonic did include a 4K photo mode that can be used in a similar way with specific advantages (that’s another blog post), I wanted to test shooting for stills in regular 4K video mode. The main reason for this was to also have the actual video clip to use for other things if I wanted.
It may be hard to believe, but all the amazing slow-motion clips you see in the video above were created using individual still photographs. Joe Fellows of London-based film production company Make Productions gathered photographs of wildlife and people from the WWF archives, and then Photoshopped and animated the images using parallax.
