There are only an estimated 4,000 or so snow leopards surviving in the wild, and capturing a photograph of these elusive, endangered cats is notoriously difficult. Nikon recently sent wildlife photographer Vincent Munier on a dream photo expedition to Tibet in pursuit of snow leopard photos.
For years, airline pilots have reported seeing unusual lightning phenomenon that we don't get to witness from the ground. Luckily for us, astronauts on the International Space Station have a perfect vantage point, and one of them did capture "blue lightning" while orbiting the Earth.
Wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas was asked by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) last year to shoot high-quality photos of some of Africa's most elusive animals. It's extremely difficult to stumble upon some of them, so Burrard-Lucas decided to set up 5 Canon DSLR camera traps. Over 3 months, the project managed to capture a large number of beautiful close-up photos of hyenas, lions, leopards, and other skittish creatures.
