An alleged internal Canon document shows that at least three more RF lenses should have been in production by this point, but ongoing manufacturing hiccups and parts shortages have delayed their release. The document additionally shows some lenses that are slated to be discontinued.
According to some reports, Nikon put its Z-mount lens roadmap on hold and postponed several announcements that were supposed to come in April. Nikon has now explicitly denied these rumors, and further promised to stay on track to bring its lens lineup to "approximately" 30 lenses by fiscal year's end.
Sony Japan has posted a notice on its website warning that they're going to have trouble keeping up with demand for the new Sony a7S III. Apparently, and to nobody's surprise, pre-orders of the camera "greatly exceeded our expectations."
Canon Japan has just issued a statement that many of us probably saw coming: pre-orders for the new Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6—as well as some accessories—have "exceeded expectations," and prospective owners should expect delays in shipping.
The novel coronavirus pandemic has thrown worldwide supply chains into disarray and caused delays across the entire industry, but it seems Canon is still hopeful it will be able to deliver the EOS R5 and rumored EOS R6 on time.
