- PetaPixel 6/10
I think the Instax Wide 400 makes sense as a stylish beginner camera to win over a new generation of users with a very easy-to-use experience, but I constantly wanted more from the compositional aids and exposure tools.

I personally feel there’s room in the range for a more advanced WIDE camera, similar to the recent MINI 99 or Mini EVO. But if you love the simplicity of a basic instax MINI camera and just wished it made larger prints, the WIDE 400 could be for you.
-
The Wide 400 is a perfectly decent point and shoot. More experienced photographers, however, might find it a bit mid and not particularly enticing.
-
The Instax Wide 400 is a clear improvement on the Wide 300 before it, with a more appealing design and shape.
-
[I]f you can get past the dull green aesthetic and can dare to be seen with it in public, then it's a winner.
-
The Fujifilm Instax Wide 400 succeeds the Wide 300 and improves on its best qualities. It’s an easy-to-use camera with an ergonomic layout, and the wide prints it produces are bright and detailed.
-
So all in all, Fuji definitely has a hit here with the Instax Wide 400. It's real simple to use.
-
The Fujifilm Instax Wide 400 is aimed at photographers who appreciate the charm of large-format instant photos and seek simple operation without too many frills. The camera is a good entry point into the Instax Wide format.
-
I would buy the Instax Wide 400 if you want something more advanced than an Instax Mini12. The Instax Wide just has more capacity to take better (and wider) photos.
-
This is all to say Fujifilm has consistently released Instax point-and-shoot cameras with simple fixed aperture lenses, and the cameras are very good at taking the photos they're designed to take.
-
The Fujifilm Instax Wide 400 Instant Camera is, admittedly, not my favourite Instax camera—but it’s still an awesome piece of technology. It’s beautifully designed, with a rugged silhouette that pairs perfectly with its soft matte finish and creamy pistachio green colourway.
