92-Year-Old Photographer Loses 65-Year-Old Photo Business to Tornado

An EF-3 tornado ripped through Marshalltown, Iowa, last Thursday, and one of the victims of the disaster was a 92-year-old photographer named Harold Cline. After seeking shelter from the storm, Cline returned to his work to find that his 65-year-old business had been destroyed.

“It felt like as the better part of my life is gone,” Cline tells WeAreIowa.

Cline started his photography business over 6 decades ago after returning from World War II and being taught wedding photography by a good friend.

In 1953, Cline started Cline Photo in Marshalltown with his wife Ardell two years after they got married. Ardell passed away in January of this year, and now Harold has lost the photo business he owned and operated with her just half a year later.

“We were married 66 years and this last January I lost her,” Cline tells WeAreIowa. “Everything went to pot. This is the climax, I guess.”
