“How to Pose for a Photograph” –NYTimes

The New York Times has published a number of portrait posing tips by photographer Peter Hurley.

Men especially might consider narrowing the space between the brows, which intensifies the gaze. Sometimes Hurley tells a client to look sneaky, “a little devious even.” Be cautious, though; go overboard with these techniques and you can easily end up in comically come-hither terrain.

Hurley calls raising the lower eyelid a technique called “squinching,” which he covered in more detail in this 2013 video.
