Apollo Astronaut Photos Brought to Life with Motion

Last week, a treasure trove of 8,400 photos by Apollo astronauts was uploaded to Flickr, making the archive easily accessible to the public. Director of photography Tom Kucy decided to put a unique spin on the images: he added 3D motion to stills to make them look at like out-of-this-world slow-motion clips. The 2-minute 4K short film above is titled “Ground Control.”

“I was so inspired by the recent release of the Apollo Archives that I decided these would be interesting to be seen in motion as if straight out of a science fiction movie,” Kucy tells PetaPixel. “I used Adobe After Effects and Photoshop to bring some of the best photos (1960’s) to life.”
