GoPro Strapped to a Hot Wheels Car Captures Every Little Kid’s Dream Drive
Here’s a little video that will no doubt fulfill at least a few readers’ childhood dreams. Using a GoPro Hero4 Session, the clip puts you in the driver’s seat of a Hot Wheels car as it hurtles down 8 expertly crafted pieces of track connected by ‘teleporting tunnels.’
The video was created by YouTube channel 5MadMovieMakers, and besides the transition from tunnel to tunnel, it’s not helped along at all by video editing. “Each section worked on its own from tunnel to tunnel,” they explain in the video’s description. “The cart is powered entirely by gravity at all times.”
In all the car traversed about 200ft of track, most of it in the 4th section. As for the underwater drive, it’s real too… although it presented a few challenges. “The cart worked reasonably well underwater and only fell off the pool track a few times,” reads the description. “The main problem with the pool track was keeping the track connected and in place.”
The final road trip runs just about 2 minutes, and if you ever played with hotwheels as a kid you’d better be ready for a bolus of nostalgia.
