High Fashion Photos Depict Models as the Five Major Internet Browsers

What if girls were Internet browsers? That’s the question that fashion photographer Viktorija Pashuta had been dying to answer for a long time before she finally got her chance in Fashion Affair Magazine.

The resulting photographs try to capture the essence of each of the five major Internet browsers — Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari — in a high-fashion sort of way.

Pashuta had been itching to do this series for a while, but as she explains it, the series was a lot easier to dream up than actually do. “It required a lot of pre production and preparation,” writes Pashuta, “since every Internet browser had to have very specific elements, colors, features.”

Additionally, Pashuta wanted to do more than simply dress the models up in the right colors. “I have tried to reflect the style of each Internet browsers through the means of clothes, shoes, accessories, props and poses itself,” she says.

And at least one of her Facebook friends thinks she’s achieved that goal, commenting that “Internet Explorer is all flashy, Firefox is sexy, Opera is elegant, Chrome is utilitarian and Safari is trendy/hip.”

Pashuta is very satisfied with how the What if Girls Were Internet Browsers series turned out in the end, calling the process from sketch to shoot “quite a journey.”

Is it just coincidence that Opera is black? -Legit question.

  • lidocaineus

In what way would it not be a coincidence? What are you implying?

  • Jimjamaroo

The Internet explorer model should be wearing a helmet and carry a bottle of medicine. She will need them after the inevitable crashes and viruses coming her way.

  • fast eddie

Nice, but I still like this one better

  • Norshan Nusi

I’ve seen a lot more cosplays of Mozilla Firefox whose looks more closer to the icon itself.

  • DudeRocks

I think he was remotely referring to Oprah? That’s the only thing I could imagine from his comment…

  • Jordan Butters

In reality, IE should be alone in a corner somewhere, rocking back and forth whilst grasping her knees and muttering to herself.

  • Leonardo Abreu

    Nice photos, well done!

  • Samcornwell

    Yes, Oprah.

  • Sid Ceaser

    Great stuff. Love the colors.

  • Mike

No, IE should be represented by and old skank with diabetes.

  • Nate Parker

I for one am offended by the lobster on Safari- what’s that all about?

  • Alyssa

    This is awesome

  • Eugene Chok

wow to be honest you seeing opera as black was what was actually racist

  • SpecRider

    It’s called fashion.

  • jkantor267

This would be a better choice for IE.

There’s only 2 things I don’t like about this. 1) Why did she use the old Google Chrome logo? I’m pretty sure Google switched to the new one a couple years ago. And 2) Why does safari have a lobster on it? And don’t tell me it’s “fashion” because that’s not fashion…

  • Darren

How was him seeing opera as black in any way racist? I would say that if he saw opera being strictly white as being racist.

  • Alan Dove

    It’s a bug.

  • Alan Dove

Firefox should be more pornographic, as she’s always getting new plugins.
Explorer should be knocked up and syphilitic.
Chrome needs a parabolic microphone and an NSA logo on her hardhat.
Opera should be surrounded by all three of her ardent fans.
Safari should be jumping up in front of us whenever we try to look at Firefox.

LOL!!! I was thinking of this image as soon as I read the article and I was going to post it if you didn’t! Being involved in webdesign, IE’s inconsistencies makes me relate so much to this comic!

  • joyfullycheryl

This is wonderfully creative and well done! I really don’t understand the criticism I see here. This is the vision of a skilled artist. Appreciate (or don’t) it and move on.

  • Devinknows

and whats the deal with airline food? why dont they make the whole lobster out of airplane food? You guys know what I’m talking about! Now why dont we get the lobsters out of on white browser based fashion and back to Washington where they belong!!

  • Aaron Link

    Been done already, many times.

  • Jonathan

all of you breathe exclusively through your mouths, correct?

  • Narstification

IE should be old and bloated, IJS

  • Ted Lee

Please defend how asking if it’s a coincidence that Opera is Black suggests that he believes one race is inherently superior to another. Because that is the very definition of racism. Perhaps what you meant to say was that asking the question was bigoted, but in that case, you really don’t have a leg to stand on there either. People who throw the racism term around without any real understanding of what it means should be tarred and feathered.

  • Tyler Magee

    Whats internet explorer?

  • Tyler Magee

internet explorer has never looked so good….

  • Christopher Miller

Or, ya know, continue to comment on the story in the comments section, as weird as that sounds.

That is a bad knock off of the lobster dress that Elsa Schiaparelli designed with Dali in the mid ’30s. The original is now in the Philadelphia Muesum of Art. It has nothing to do with designer fashion.

  • Eugene Chok

well so far 5 people dislike and 4 people like my comment, add me that makes a 50% split of the population you would like to torture and humiliate

  • Aaron Tsuru

“What if girls were Internet browsers?” – Don’t you mean, what if internet browsers were women?
