Clever Conceptual Photographs of Fruits and Vegetables

Strange Fruits is a series of clever conceptual photographs by German photographer Sarah Illenberger. Each photo shows a common fruit or vegetable that has been arranged to look like some other object or material.

An eggplant is sliced open to reveal wood within. Beets are cut like a gem. Fruit salad is arranged in the shape of a Rubik’s Cube.

There are a total of 18 photographs in the series. You can find them all over on Illenberger’s website.

There is often a fine line between art and photography, and these are 99% art, IMO. The photos themselves are very ordinary, merely documenting what is in fact extremely inventive artwork.

Interesting and humorous at times. The pommegrenade in the entire series is quite cool as well.

They are art pieces created with photography.

Photography IS art. No photography is a 100% perfect reproduction.

    High commercial appeal though

This is awesome, aside from the disturbing hair apple

THe photos themselves could use some work… I think that would take this to the level of awesomeness. Already very very cool

I agree and my above comment did not suggest otherwise. I am all for artistic freedom no matter what your medium may be.
