Unreal Timelapse of the Northern Lights

Landscape photographer Terje Sorgjerd spent four years looking to create a timelapse of the aurora borealis (AKA northern lights), then finally flew two hours north from Norway and spent a week capturing one of the biggest displays in recent years. The final result is absolutely jaw-dropping.

In case you’re wondering, the stills were shot with a Canon 5D Mark II along with the Canon 24mm 1.4, Canon 16-35mm 2.8, and Sigma 12-24mm lenses.

Simply Amazing! Wonder what the name of that track playing in the background of the video is? Great work Terje Sorgjerd..

    Breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking.
Since I was very little I always wanted to see them, I hope some day I will.

Hey Michael, thanks for letting me know.. I knew that I heard it somewhere before but couldn’t quite figure it out..

That is phenomenal. The creator of that needs a massive pat on the back. Quite simply the best time-lapse videos I think I have ever watched.

I think it’s really funny that you guys featured this, with a soundtrack that is most likely not legitimately licensed, on the same day as you posted about Richard Prince’s copyright violations.

    Nice double standard. :(

I watched it with the sound off. Still looked pretty and I don’t feet any guilt.

Right. Because that’s totally the point.

That is just gorgeous. I’ve seen the Aurora Australis down her in NZ…maybe one day I’ll see the northern lights too. Magical. Oh, and I think the music suits it very well too.

beautiful, but find it hard to believe the saturation slider wasn’t used a bit much…
