Adobe’s $10 Photography Plan Gone from Site: Cheapest is $20/Month

If you subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud for Photoshop and Lightroom via the $10 per month Photography Plan, there may be some pain coming to your wallet. Many customers no longer see the $10/month plan on Adobe’s site — the cheapest plan is listed is $20/month.

Adobe first offered a $10/month Creative Cloud bundle of Photoshop and Lightroom back in 2013 as a special limited time deal, but it seems the plan was so popular among photographers that Adobe continued offering it as a permanent option after the deal expired.

The $10 plan has been popular among photographers because for about $120 per year — or even less when purchased annually or with a deal — you get the up-to-date versions of Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic CC, and Lightroom CC, and 20GB of cloud storage to boot.

But that $10 plan has just vanished for many customers viewing the Creative Cloud plans page. Instead of $10/month for 20GB of storage being the most affordable plan, only the $20/month with 1TB cloud storage is being offered.

The $10/month plan has just disappeared for many customers.

We reached out to Adobe Sales and a representative confirmed that the $10 plan is no longer being offered on the website for many customers. Go through the standard online ordering process (i.e. click “Buy Now” on the Photography Plan being offered) and you’ll only be presented with the $20/month option.

If you only use the Photography Plan for the software and not the storage, a phasing out of the $10-per-month/20GB plan would effectively be a 100% price hike with no practical benefit for you.

Don’t despair, though: there are still a trick that you can use to get the old pricing. Simply contact Adobe Sales through phone (866-493-4989) or the online chat (the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of the page) and they can still sell you the $10/month plan (for now).

The rep tells PetaPixel that the $20/month minimum price hasn’t been set in stone yet, and there’s no word on whether or not Adobe will be making it a permanent price hike that’ll double the software cost for photographers.

If you’d like to lock in the current $10/month price in case the $20/month hike does happen, you can do so by buying 12-month subscriptions through an authorized reseller and add a maximum of 3 years of subscription to your account up front.

Update: We reached out to Adobe regarding this pricing change and this is the statement we received:

“From time to time, we run tests on Adobe.com which cover a range of items, including plan options that may or may not be presented to all visitors to Adobe.com. We are currently running a number of tests on Adobe.com.”

Update: The $10/month plan can still currently be ordered through this page (that isn’t linked anywhere on the Plans page). If you’re an existing customer who wants to tack on additional years, you’ll still need to purchase through a reseller and activate the codes under your account.
