It Took 17 Square Meters of Mirror to Get This Shot

Photographer, digital artist, and Photoshop master Erik Johansson just released the behind the scenes video for his latest creation, and you may be surprised when you find out just how much work (not retouching, on-location work) goes into setting up a dreamscape like this.

A digital masterpiece of the caliber Erik puts out doesn’t just shoot itself. In the case of his photo “Impact,” it took hefting 17 square meters of mirror and a boat (and a fish…) out into the middle of nowhere before Photoshop even got involved.

Here’s the behind the scenes video showing the whole process from concept to completion:

The final shot took months of work, and that’s the message Erik hopes to send with this video. “I thought it could be fun to share the process,” he explains in the video description, “to show how much work there is behind creating just one piece.”

To see more of Erik’s work, buy his prints, or check out more of his BTS videos, head over to his website or show him some love on Facebook and Instagram.
