“This is a Satire Website. Fictional Stories Just for laughs.” That’s the line you’ll find if you scroll to the bottom of the ODGossip website. But when they posted that the subject of an embarrassing Meme was suing Instagram for $500 million, blogs and publications the world over went ahead and ran with it.

According to ODGossip, the girl you in the confused face girl meme above is Keisha Johnson, a 16-year-old Birmingham, Alabama resident who was so embarrassed by the poor portrait that she is suing Instagram for half of what Facebook bought them for.

And if that doesn’t seem far-fetched enough, there’s the ‘quote’ by Johnson that ODGossip included in the short post:

My face looked ugly like I was about to throw up… I look nothing like that in real life… Im really a bad b*tch!

Now, in our legally out-of-whack world, it is somewhat possible that Instagram really is being sued for $500M because a photo went viral through its network, but for the love of all things logical, Instagram doesn’t even have ‘reshare’ or ‘reblog’ or ‘repost’ function! What lawyer would think they could be held even remotely responsible?

So consider this your PSA for the day… Instagram probably isn’t being sued for $500M, no matter what you hear, and you shouldn’t believe everything you read on the Internet… especially when it’s posted on a satire site.
