Bewitching Milky Way Timelapse Will Make You Want to Visit… Kazakhstan?
When you think night sky time-lapse, what are the first places that come to mind? Probably somewhere in Iceland, maybe a few spots in Hawaii, but one location that probably doesn’t make the list is the country of Kazakhstan.
No, it’s not just a punchline from the movie Borat. As photographer Denis Frantsouzov shows you in the mesmerizing time-lapse video above, it’s also one of the best places to go if you want to capture the night sky.
Moscow-based Frantsouz captured the photographs in his “Amazing Kazakhstan” time-lapse film last month, during a vacation to the Mangyshlak peninsula that consisted of, “two amazing weeks of traveling, off-roading, swimming in the sea and watching Milky Way at night…”
What he came back with — courtesy of a Canon 5DM3 with 16-35mm lens, a Canon 5DM2 with a 24mm lens and the wonderful absence of light pollution — was this experience of a time-lapse video. We know many of you are at work right now, but if at all possible, try to watch this in full screen with the lights down and a good pair of headphones on.
