Tilt-Shift Time-Lapse Transforms San Francisco into a Miniature City

Shukhrat of MINIMUS DESIGN created this time-lapse video of his favorite places in San Francisco, using a tilt-shift effect to make them look like miniature models. It reminds me of “The Sandpit“, a similar video done in New York City that went viral on the web back in February.

Thanks for the tip Stefan!

I understand this stuff is cool, but when did a photography website turn into a time lapse, tilt shift, slow motion, high speed, hdr video website? its getting old in my opinion.

how do they do the panning and zooming?? is that added in post? what program?

They use a type of motorized tripod that they set to the speed they want the camera to move (a couple inches every 5 minutes, etc). They can try to plan ahead knowing how fast they want the video playback to be, so they adjust the pan/zoom/tilt speed accordingly. But I’m sure that can all be added in post production as well.

    I hope that made sense.
