Climber Had Camera Rolling When Earthquake and Avalanche Struck Everest

German climber Jost Kobusch had his camera rolling at the Mount Everest basecamp when the 2015 Nepal earthquake struck this past weekend. His footage reveals what it was like for climbers to feel the ground rumbling underfoot and then to see a colossal cloud of snow rushing toward them down the face of the mountain (Warning: there’s strong language).

“The ground was shaking from the earthquake and as soon as we saw people running we were running ourselves to save our lives,” Kobusch writes in the video’s description. There are presently at least 4,300 known casualties from the disaster, including at least 19 climbers on Everest.

P.S. Here’s a list of ways you can contribute to the relief efforts in Nepal.
