What it Looks Like to Focus a Rangefinder Camera

If you’ve never used a rangefinder camera before, this video provides a visual look at how focusing works (a Leica M2 is used). Basically you’re given a second (smaller) image of the scene, and your goal is turn the focus ring until the two images match up for the subject you’d like to have in focus.

Nikon Tells the Story of the Nano Crystal Coat in Dramatic Fashion

Here’s an interesting video produced by Nikon that explains how their Nano Crystal Coat technology came about and how it works to reduce ghosting. The music and sound effects are pretty dramatic compared to what a Western company would put in a video like this.

Disassembled Sony A55 Examined and Explained

Here’s an interesting look at the guts of the pellicle mirror Sony A55 and how the camera works. The camera being examined in the video is already disassembled and neatly organized by layer. If you haven’t seen or read much about the A33/A55 before, this video will bring you up to speed on the advantages of having a translucent mirror instead of a traditional one.
