Nowadays, anybody with an Internet connection has seen tens if not hundreds of photographs taken from space. Astronauts tweet them, Hubble sends them down... rovers even putter around planets other than our own taking pictures.
But it all started with the photograph above from 1946, the first ever photo taken from space.
The folks over at Nikon Rumors have been hard at work keeping everybody up on what you can expect from Nikon, but if you're like us, you just don't have the time to follow rumors day in and day out. So here's a roundup of what the most exciting and plausible rumors that should give Nikon lovers some idea of what to expect in the next couple of months.
When the first Capture Camera Clip went to Kickstarter in 2011, it absolutely blew away its funding goal. Creator Peter Dering needed $10,000; he wound up raising almost $365,000! The last two years have been very kind to the versatile camera clip that allows you to securely hook your DSLR just about anywhere on your person, but along with the success have come many suggestions for possible improvement.
So, like any good designer, Dering is taking another stab at it: attempting the same idea, only this time with "brilliant execution." The v2 is a redesigned, sleeker, better version of the first Capture system, with a bunch of new functionality built in.
Just as the rumors predicted, Nikon announced the new V2 mirrorless camera today. Succeeding the Nikon 1 V1, the V2 is a slightly-more-serious mirrorless camera than the recently-launched J2 (think V for "varsity" and J for "junior varsity"). Unlike the J2, the V2 offers more differences from its predecessor than a few minor tweaks.
