The Camera Store Staff Attacked with Bear Spray in Robbery

Camera stores have become the targets of more and more thieves in recent years. While many of the reports involve nighttime break-ins, robbers do attempt to steal gear during store hours as well, and that's what just happened to the well-known camera store The Camera Store.

$27,000 in Leica and Hasselblad Gear Stolen from The Camera Store

There has been another notable burglary in the world of camera shops. The Camera Store, the Calgary-based store that has a huge following on YouTube, was broken into this past weekend, and the burglars made off with roughly $35,000 CAD (~$27,000) in Leica and Hasselblad cameras and lenses.

Silly Comedy Skit Explains How Photo and Cinema Zoom Lenses Differ

For us photo-people, the insane price tag on some Cinema zoom lenses makes zero sense. Why not just use really nice photography glass? What makes a Cinema zoom lens worth it? A lot, actually, and this short little comedy bit illustrates the difference between the two options perfectly.

The Camera Store and Nick Devlin Test Out the Fuji X-T1 in the Field

If we had to name the most exciting camera of 2014 thus far, Fuji's X-T1 would probably get the nod (although the Sony a6000 is no slouch). Some call it the Nikon Df done right, others are saying it's the camera that will finally take the X-Series mainstream, but general opinion about this camera seems to be very good.

There's only one problem... many of those opinions come from people who haven't had a chance to use it yet. And since a spec sheet and press release can only say so much, The Camera Store and photographer Nick Devlin decided to go hands-on and take you in the field with this exciting new shooter.

The Camera Store Shares Its Picks for Best and Worst Cameras and Lenses of 2013

Everybody is coming out with their editor's choices and best of's and holiday gift guides, but The Camera Store added another facet to their "best of 2013"... the "worst of 2013." From lenses, to still cameras to video cameras, take a gander at what was really good and, inevitably more entertaining, what was really bad.

Clever Ad Tells the Love Story of a Photog and an Olympus Camera

Creativity and humor score big points with consumers. That's why photographers, camera companies and camera stores alike often employ one or both to get their customers' attention. Some of what we've seen in the past includes James Hodgins' Crappy Vs Snappy, Olympus' ziplock bags of walnuts, and Schick's razor photo fad.

The above video by Canada's The Camera Store is another prime example. Instead of making a bland announcement, they decide to film this fun and funny 'love story' to let their customers know the store will once again be carrying Olympus brand cameras.

Funny Stop-Motion Animation Shows the Canon EOS M at the Mirrorless Party

Jordan Drake of Canadian camera shop The Camera Store just published this great hands-on field test of the Canon EOS M. Even if you don't have 10 minutes to watch the entire review, you've got to check out the two short stop-motion animations that start at about 21s and 7m50s. They're a hilarious (and accurate) sketches that poke fun at how "the Canon EOS M is a little bit late to the mirrorless party" and how the camera has a pretty shoddy autofocus system.
