In its annual tradition, Adobe has announced a list of talented and extraordinary photographers who have been named as 2021 Adobe Rising Stars of Photography. One of them, Anna Neubauer, has shared her insight on what it means to her and how she breaks away from industry stereotypes with her photography.
Yesterday, I was at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia shooting for Flashes of Hope, a wonderful non-profit organization that gets photographers like myself to volunteer their time and create portraits of kids who are literally fighting for their lives. These portraits are given to the families for free. Flashes of Hope is a truly wonderful group.
Photo sharing and portfolio building sites, if you'll allow us a cliché, are a dime a dozen. Once you strip away the marketing speak they act in much the same way, with the differences are few and great work is often buried under an avalanche of work that's just 'okay.'
It takes a lot, in other words, to really break the mold -- which is what makes the August platform/app such a breath of fresh photo sharing air. Part respectable art gallery, part photo sharing and discovery platform, it offers a unique and incredibly fulfilling experience for both creators and consumers.
