Sony is upping its action cam game in a big way today. The company's already well-regarded action cameras, big competitors for that GoPro that hasn't come out yet, just got Optical SteadyShot Stabilization.
Places like Paris are prime candidates for capturing incredible aerial footage, but where most people would go about this task with a drone (or maybe a replica of the Up! house...) the people at the non-profit FREEDOM took a different approach.
They strapped a Sony Action Cam Mini to the back of a white-tailed eagle named Victor, and let him fly from the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.
GoPro may rule the roost in the action cam market, but they aren’t the only ones with their hand in the basket. Sony makes a lineup of action cams as well, and today they’ve announced their latest adventure seekers camera, the Sony Action Cam Mini: a fun-sized version of the AS100v that packs just as much power into just two-thirds the size.
Sony clearly felt there was a gap in the action cam mount market that needed filling. And so, in addition to providing mounts for everything from surfers to scuba divers, Sony Japan had just debuted an action cam mount for man's best friend.
