What if Superman was born in the sixteenth century? What if the Hulk was a Duke? How might Van Eyck have portrayed Snow White? These are the questions that gave birth to the creative-yet-strange-yet-somehow-awesome portrait series Super Flemish by photographer Sacha Goldberger.
A few years ago, photographer Sacha Goldberger discovered that his 91-year-old "mamika" (Hungarian for "grandmother") named Frederika was feeling lonely and down. To put a smile back on her face, Goldberger suggested that they shoot a series of silly portraits featuring Frederika dressed up as a superhero. Frederika agreed, and Goldberger's project Mamika was born. The photographs took the web by storm back in 2010, and the viral views gave Frederika a huge boost in cheer as people from all over the world sent encouraging messages to her.
Photographer Sacha Goldberger set up an outdoor studio in a Parisian park and asked joggers who ran by to sprint and then pose for a photograph while out of breath. He then invited the same joggers to visit his studio one week later to be photographed in the same pose, but dressed up. The resulting photos are an interesting series of "raw vs. proper" portraits of strangers.
