British photographer Chris Porsz tirelessly tracked down local people he photographed roughly 40 years ago and recreated his decades-old street photos of them. The fascinating then-and-now photos are part of his ongoing series Reunions.

Remember those old lens advertisements you would see decades ago while flipping through magazines like National Geographic? Photographer Aaron Arizpe recently tried his hand at recreating the look and feel of those ads using his own lenses and editing skills.

UK couple Dave and Sarah love both films and felines, so they've launched an Instagram project that combines the two. Called @moviecats, each photo they shoot is a scene from a famous movie recreated with the help of their two cats.

Starting about 40 years ago, photographer Chris Porsz began shooting street portraits of strangers he met in his hometown of Peterborough in England. For the past few years, Porsz has been tracking down those subjects and asking them to pose for recreations of those decades-old photos. The ambitious project is titled Reunions.

With a new exhibition on the work of French artist Edgar Degas opening soon at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Harper's Bazaar commissioned photographers Ken Browar and Deborah Ory of the NYC Dance Project to recreate famous Degas ballet artworks as portraits of dancer Misty Copeland.

We first featured the Cardboard Box Office project back in 2013 as parents Lilly and Leon Mackie were attracting quite a bit of attention for their creative recreations of Hollywood films with their baby boy, Orson. In the year-and-a-half since, the family has continued shooting low-budget photos, branched out into TV shows, begun doing commercial shoots with their concept, and been nominated for a Webby award.

Here's a second, deeper look at some of the work they've been creating as a family.

"Seven Generations of American Women" is a project by Los Angeles-based photographer Christine McConnell in which she recreated her family portraits going back 200 years. The series starts with her great-great-great-grandmother and ends in the present day.

Upon first glance, the photo above looks like Dorothea Lange's iconic Migrant Mother photo captured in 1936. Then you realize that the woman in the frame is definitely not Florence Owens Thompson, the woman in the original image. Looking a more closely, you start to notice an uncanny resemblance to actor John Malkovich.

Turns out that is John Malkovich you see. American photographer Sandro Miller collaborated with the actor to recreate some of the most famous portraits captured throughout history. The project is titled, Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters.

Every year, in the third week of July, over 100 silver bearded men descend upon the city of Key West, Florida. Their goal: to be declared the man who most resembles American writer Ernest Hemingway. The contest they participate in is put on by the Hemingway Look-Alike Society, and is the largest sanctioned look-alike competition in the world.

Photographer Henry Hargreaves visited the festivities this year and created a new photo project titled "Becoming Hemingawy." It's a series of portraits showing some of this year's contestants.

Late last year, photographer Cheyne Gallarde turned to Kickstarter to raise funds for an ambitious series of self-portraits titled Universe of One. Inspired by the work of Cindy Sherman, the project features Gallarde posing as a wide range of people, both male and female, of different ethnicities, and from different walks of life. The transformations are done using only makeup, wardrobe, and lighting tricks.

To drum up interest for the series, Gallarde came up with an interesting incentive: contribute to the book, and have a portrait of yours recreated humorously with Gallarde posing as you.

Photographer Brock Davis likes playing with food. Among his food related experiments are recreations of famous explosions done with cauliflower. The image above shows the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
