ACD Systems International has launched the newest edition of its flagship software -- ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2022 -- boosting the digital asset management process and introducing AI-powered facial recognition.

ACDSee has released a free beta version of Gemstone -- a new stand-alone editing software that is currently available for anyone to try -- that looks extremely promising as an Adobe Photoshop alternative.

Japanese artist Nobuhiro Nakanishi has a project titled Layer Drawings that creatively uses photography to explore time, space, and 3D art installations. Each piece is a series of photos on a series of transparent acrylic sheets.

Sony just debuted a new type of 3-layer CMOS sensor that captures images with incredible speed. At full tilt, the sensor can capture 1080p Full HD video at a blazing-fast 1,000fps, and all but eliminates the rolling shutter effect when shooting fast moving objects.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based artist Scott Hazard creates abstract images by tearing shapes into multiple prints of the same photograph, and then stacking the images on top of each other. He uses the technique to create things such as smoke, clouds, and portals in walls. He calls the project "Photo Constructs".

For her series entitled "Photo Opportunities", photographer Corinne Vionnet gathered hundreds of photographs taken by tourists at famous locations and combined them by layering them together, creating surreal views of places we've all seen before in photographs.

For those of you who still shoot film and are adventurous, have you tried double film photography? Flickr user Chuck Miller stuck two 35mm Fuji 200 films -- one normal, one redscale -- into a Holga 120N and shot the films simultaneously to get these unique sprocket hole, layered photographs.

These photographers were taken by Phillip Maisel as part of his project, "A More Open Place". He made long exposure photographs of Facebook photos while flipping through albums, creating this surreal, layered effect.
